One big misconception about sweating is that "if you sweat a lot while you workout you are out of shape." This isn't necessarily true and people are turned off by sweating. This negative perception is de-motivating and causes many to avoid exercising altogether. In fact, sweating provides some great benefits for you to embrace, so you won't be embarrassed. Truthfully, by sweating your body is doing you a favor.
When your body heats up, it also produces more white blood cells which strengthen your immune system.
Circulation improves and metabolism accelerates because your heart is working harder while you sweat.
Your skin pores open and dirt or impurities on the surface layers of the skin have a chance to exit.
Sweating warms up your muscles helping to release the stress and fatigue brought on by muscle tension.
The more you sweat, the better your body holds on to sodium which can help reduce cramping during a workout.
Tip for effective sweating: DON'T FORGET TO HYDRATE. When you sweat during exercising, you can lose 6.8 to 118 ounces of fluid per hour. According to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), you should shed no more than 2% of your body weight while exercising or else you risk dehydration. The ACSM recommends you drink 14-20 ounces of water two to three hours before you exercise and 8 to 10 ounces every 15 minutes during your workout.
Also, WASH YOUR BODY AFTER A WORKOUT. Cleansing your body after a workout helps wash away the toxins that are released by your sweat, leaving your skin feeling smooth and you feeling refreshed.
